Christian Barrios
International Program Manager
Christian Barrios is an active member of his community in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. He focused his studies in performing arts as well as arts & culture management, studying in Guatemala City at la Universidad Popular, La Escuela Nacional de Danza, and El Conservatorio Nacional. As an actor and dancer, he has been a member of Luz Negra ballet folklorico company and Siguan Tinimit, and has toured internationally to Mexico, Panama, Italy, Peru, Chile, among others.
Christian entered creative management in 2004, beginning by taking on leadership while dancing with Siguan Tinimit. In 2008, he worked with Quetzaltenango’s esteemed Centro Cultural Casa No’j to develop community arts programs, and in 2009 continued this work with Centro Cultural de España in Quetzaltenango. Christian currently works as a professor of artistic expression at the Colegio Suizo Quetzaltenango, where he has been teaching theater and dance since 2012. Additionally, he works as a director with Arlequin, a project he founded in 2010 that focuses on management of performing arts and cultural development in Quezaltenango.
Christian has worked with JUNTOSAbroad since 2010, coordinating all international relations including activities, events, and work with partnering organizations. In 2016, Christian extended his work with JUNTOS to include coordination and management of the JUNTOSAmbassador program. Christian, alongside Sussan, currently direct all JUNTOS international relations including work in Guatemala, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
